Our Poetry Analysis module guides learners through a structured, three-year approach to understanding and appreciating poetry. From Grade 10 to Grade 12, learners explore a wide range of poems while developing the essential skills needed to analyse, interpret, and respond to poetic texts with confidence.
Progression Across Grades
-Grade 10: Introduction to poetry terminology, basic techniques, and foundational analysis skills.
-Grade 11: Deeper exploration of poetic form, tone, and theme with increased cognitive demand.
-Grade 12: Advanced interpretation and essay-style analysis of both prescribed and unseen poems.
What Learners Will Learn
Purpose of the Module

-Poetic Devices: Mastery of figurative language, sound devices, imagery, tone, diction, symbolism, and structure.
-Interpretation: Understanding how poets use language deliberately to create meaning and influence readers.
-Critical Thinking: Evaluating the effectiveness of poetic techniques and forming reasoned interpretations.
-Structured Responses: Writing well-organised answers, including paragraph responses and full literary essays. -Unseen Poetry: Approaching unfamiliar poems with confidence, using analysis strategies taught throughout the module.
